Hello Everybody,
I thought that I if I told (or write about it would be the better term, I guess)that I would keep myself more accountable. I like chocolate. A lot. But it is not just chocolate. I eat so much junk food. Really, I don't know how I have managed till now. I eat sugar like a five year old and I am going to have diabetes if I don't watch it. Now, I don't think there is anything wrong with eating it. I just eat it excessively. Kathryn always tells me, "Moderation Marian, Moderation!" Just ask kjersti where all her chocolate chips used to disappear to...
So here I am, confessing my binge eating habits. I always say that I will stop eating junk food, but it just doesn't happen. I would hate to know what I would be like if I actually had a serious addiction problem. :|
Okay, so I don't usually make new years resolutions, I usually break them, so why bother to make one...
But the more people I tell, the more people to keep me accountable. Not expressing my resolution could lead to a contributing factor to failure. And since I don't like people to think bad of me, it keeps me more in line. So here it is:
1) I am limiting myself to one chocolate bar a week
2) I will not order a French Vanilla or drink pop
3) I will go to the gym (I will learn how those exercise weight training gadgets work)
4) I will not eat chips or hot tamales
Sincerely, Marian

Gotta love new years' resolutions, eh Marian?? ANYWAY I thought I'd give you a teensy bit of advice of something that helps me to make healthier eating choices. When it comes to that McDonalds' burger, I think back to that cow who was slaughtered in an unnecessary manner (MANY slaughterhouses are so incredibly cruel to animals), and I make myself picture that animal alive, and also picture the gross blood and guts and bones and all the rest of that gorgeous stuff coming out. Instant appetite-killer. When it comes to greasy fries for example, I make myself think of a fat man who cannot move slathering on butter and shoving it in his face while having trouble breathing b/c eating takes too much energy. As for sugar, well I just do replacements. I have been buying a LOT of pineapple (it's got natural sugars anyway, tastes sweet, yay), and it's my . . . oh what's that word . . . absolute replacement that is always successful. I LOVE LOVE pineapple. What's a fruit that you LOVE? And when it comes to other processed foods, well when you think of all the crap that goes into it, it kinda makes you not hungry hey? b/c it's stuff that's all bad for you. what I have been doing lately is buying some more raw ingredients and making/cooking them in that way, I buy a lot of organic stuff. See if this one works for you, I know it works for me but I'm not sure if it's something that assists everyone in healthy choices. Buying organic and raw foods makes you spend more time preparing it, sometimes it's annoying, but you're so busy making it that you want to enjoy your artwork and eat slowly b/c well it took a lot of work. Plus, preparing in the kitchen is . .. I dunno, I find it to be a satisfying thing if I'm making something healthy, and it makes me feel proud, therefore I'm feeling more obligated to continue that process. Hope this helps out a bit!
go marian go! you're like the only person i know this year who made a resolution. so you'd better keep it. don't let me down.
lov you...
WOW, Courtney, your are a health food guru. You could be a dietitian! I especially like your mental images when it comes to greasy fries! I really like pineapple so I will have to give that a try as well. Thanks for your advice! I appreciate it!
...don't worry Suzy I am determined, I won't let you down...
